The 25 pdr gun artillery batteries can serve in dual roles, both as artillery and anti-tank, although its anti-tank capability has been reduced over time with the thicker armour on the German panzers and so care should be taken when engaging enemy tanks.

    The Royal Artillery has had plenty of experience on dynamic battlefields where deep thrusts by enemy tanks bring them right through to the gun lines. The 25 pdr's effectiveness as dual-purpose weapons capable of knocking out tanks stands them in good stead in these circumstances

    A circular firing platform attached underneath the trail is lowered to the ground and the gun is pulled onto it. This provides a stable surface on which the gun can quickly be rotated in any direction, especially useful when enemy tanks attack from an unexpected direction
